I'm back! (Part II)

On Sunday, April 15th we started our Spring Campaign, "Fishers of Men".  Dr. Ray Young was our guest speaker and opened our campaign as he has done for several years now.  It is always a blessing to hear him preach but another blessing is that his wife gets to come with him!  I enjoy Mrs. Young so much!  We have such a great time together talking about things we have in common, things we enjoy, getting advice from her, picking her brain on ideas and just enjoying her company!  (I love you Mrs. Young!) :)
Dr. Young taught all our teens for Sunday School and preached the morning service and Mrs. Young taught a special group of ladies in our church, the single moms/ladies.  These ladies are so faithful, work so hard for their families and carry a big load.  I wanted to do something special for them so I asked Mrs. Young to teach their Sunday School class.  Before the evening service Mrs. Young spoke again but to all the ladies of our church and Dr. Young preached the evening service.  What a great day of blessings seeing people saved, baptized and seeing the Lord work in our hearts through the preaching.
We are looking forward to next year when they come again!

The next day the Youngs planned a very special day!  Dr. Young invited some pastors in the area along with a limited amount of church members, to take a tour on the life of Dr. Jack Hyles.  We went to different areas here in Texas where Dr. Hyles lived, went to school, went to church, got engaged and many more places.  We really enjoyed ourselves!  It was very thoughtful of the Youngs to take their time and share it with us in order to give us the tour.  The following are pictures of some of the places we saw.

The home where Bro. Hyles was born once stood here.  That house was moved to the campus of Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana.

This monument is in the birthplace of Bro. Jack Hyles-Italy, Texas.
It is inscribed with a dedication to the pastor of the "World's Largest Sunday School."
This monument was purchased by Dr. Russell Anderson in 1975.

This was the original grave site of Bro. Hyles' father, now moved to Indiana.
Shortly after he was buried here, Bro. Hyles spent several days and prayed for the power of God here at this gravesite. Bro. Hyles' ministry was transformed and of course many of us had the pleasure of seeing and experiencing that.

The elementary school where Bro. Hyles attended.

Dr. Young telling us stories about Bro. Hyles when he attended this school.

One of the homes that Bro. Hyles lived in.

Hillcrest Baptist Church where Bro. & Mrs. Hyles would meet.

While on a blind triple date, they were parked at this Texas Theater.  The other couples began to pass around a bottle of whiskey which each would take a drink from.  The bottle then came to Bro. Hyles. His date tried to get him to drink it and did feel tempted.  But at that moment Bro. Hyles felt a sharp pain in his chest which made him refuse.  He immediately went home and found his mother on her knees praying for her son to stay clean.
The power of a mothers' prayer!

Adamson High School where Bro. Hyles attended high school.

The balcony of the Grand Central Station where Bro. Hyles proposed to Mrs. Beverly Hyles.

This is the corner in downtown Dallas where after Bro. Hyles' father kicked and cursed him after knowing that his son had surrendered to preach.
