Old Fashion Service

The week after our fall campaign ended, we had our yearly Old Fashion Service.  Encase you are not familiar with this, we take a Sunday evening service and go back in time.  Everyone is encouraged to dress old fashion which there is a $50.00 cash prize for the best dressed.  We have decorations up like quilts, oil lamps, pumpkins, hay, mums, old photos and rocking chairs on the platform.  We have a music CD playing hymns from a banjo.   We picked up a hallelujah offering where the ushers yell out Amen, Glory to God and Hallelujah depending on how much was placed in the offering plate.  Of course there was good old fashion preaching.  It was alot of fun!  We ended the night with a fund raiser selling chicken burritos.

  1. Wow... I loved the original costumes! Some people really got into the spirit, I see!

This was one of my favorite Sundays of the year growing up, so this post brought back some sweet memories. :-)
